We met him through business in Wichita, KS, became friends years ago and heard about this tragedy through his former employer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. FYI to PKutch asking for more details on death of our mutual friend Matt: I apologize for getting this info to you so late; out of town. Matt's obit & guest book can be found at: http://www.legacy.com/Kansas/DeathNotices.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=18369239 So far, 4 pages of friends have signed in and given Matt a well-deserved tribute. Business Law Problem.? Howard inherited a 10-acre parcel of land on the edge of Wichita from his aunt. He knows nothing about the land, but realizes that due to its proximity to Kellogg it has economic potential. He decided that it would be a good place to open a restaurant. A neighboring property owner told Howard that he had heard the land cannot “legally be used for commercial purposes”. Howard did not know what the neighbor was talking about, and told him to “get lost”. Discuss what steps Howard needs to take, both legally and practically, to find out if he can legally operate a business on the land. Be specific as to the legal terms and concepts.

However, if I google "my website + Wichita, KS" it's the 1st one. I don't have the + (plus sign) anywhere in my webpage. Correction: if I google search "day care " (not my specific website) Why does the plus sign make my ranking higher? Thanks for any help. Of course, I want my site to come up higher on the rankings and most people won't add a plus sign or the word "and"

Do you like this new wave of laws Kan. lawmakers drafting bills to target illegal immigration your thoughts? WICHITA, Kan. --Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Kansas are drafting separate bills targeting illegal immigration amid fears about a potential influx of illegal immigrants from neighboring states that have already started cracking down. Across the nation, at least 127 cities and states have passed or are considering local laws aimed at curbing illegal immigration, according to a database compiled by the Fair Immigration Reform Movement, a project of the Center for Community Change, an immigrant advocacy group based in Washington, D.C.In Kansas, some people are concerned that illegal immigrants may move here from the neighboring states of Oklahoma, Colorado and Missouri, which have passed laws or instituted policies aimed at illegal immigration. "I don't believe Kansas should become a sanctuary state as other states continue to pass legislation," said Rep. Brenda Landwehr, R-Wichita. If the federal government is not going to solve the illegal immigration problem, she said, then states have to step in. Her proposal, which is still being drafted, is based on laws in Oklahoma, Arizona and Colorado, Landwehr said. It would revoke business licenses and impose civil penalties on any Kansas business found to have employed an illegal immigrant, enforce federal law denying public benefits to illegal immigrants and strengthen local enforcement efforts. http://www.bnd.com/336/story/182627.html

What sucks about where you live? Let's have a b*tch fest. Where I live: Kansas, small town outside of Wichita. Wal-Mart's the biggest business in town. 98% white folks. Rich Klan history. Very few jobs. Nothing to do except drink. Don't lecture me on how I should be grateful for what I have...I am grateful, I just want to complain at this moment in my life. So share what sucks about where you live. Ah, not me, I don't drink. Not my thing. Crum, that sounds exactly like my town. Ugh for you. And me. lol @ MambaMam...

Was it a good or bad decision? This is what happened to me after my high school.. I was in Dubai, UAE pursuing a degree in BSc Business from London School of Economics external system. I joined the college in September 2008 studied their till April 2009 and gave my final exams and passed them with very good grades that I could have easily gotten into some of the London based colleges. But people used to say that transferring to a college in London is very difficult. I always wanted to come to US. So as 2009 started I applied to a college in US thinking I won't be able to transfer to UK. Transferring to UK was always my first priority, but I didn't try it ever because of people influence! I am now here in US since August 2009. I left my college in Dubai. I changed my major here to Electrical Engineering. Fortunately I got some credits transferred but the 3 courses I did there for 1 year, I just got them transferred as 1 semester over here. I mean they just gave me a few credits for that. But the thing is that I wasn't happy studying in Dubai because of traffic problems and even some of the professors were not good. Here, I am in Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas which is basically a village, but I like the university. People say over here that why I left LSE and came to WSU?!! I mean LSE i like the 3rd college in UK. I miss it now. But I am happy over here as compared to when I was over there. The only thing that make me sad is that I wasted 6 months or 1 year of my life because I didn't get the proper transfer. So tell me was it a good or bad decision for me to move to US?

Hate crimes, Lib dies, oh the terror, Soldier killed yawn from media? On a Sunday morning in Wichita, Kan., a man is murdered while attending church. The killing is immediately labeled a "hate crime" and an act of "domestic terrorism." The news media is outraged. Television networks act as if the man was a martyr, and the story is front-page news in every newspaper in the country. Attorney General Eric Holder orders the U.S. Marshal's Office to increase security around the slain man's business and around similar businesses. Later he announces that the Justice Department will launch a federal investigation into the murder to see if it was a conspiracy. The next day, in Little Rock, Ark., two young men are shot down by a lone gunman. One of them dies. For the most part, the public knows nothing about this shooting because the news media don't report the story. They are too busy covering every possible aspect of the first murder. No federal investigation is announced to determine whether there may be others involved in a conspiracy in Little Rock. And no one calls it a hate crime. What could possibly make the first victim so much more important than the second? Why the lopsided coverage? What about the shooters? What information do we have on them? And why would the United States government go to such lengths to search for co-conspirators in the former case and not the latter? For all the politically motivated reasons no one wants to admit or even talk about. Welcome to the wonderful world of 21st century journalism and justice, where your national media and your federal government come together to determine if your affiliations and loyalties make you valuable, protected and politically correct — or not. The first victim was Dr. George Tiller, an infamous late-term
Could someone Please help on this very hard case study? The Darby Company manufactures and distributes meter used to measure electric power consumption. The company started with a small production plant in El Paso and gradually built a customer base throughout Texas. A distribution center was established in Ft. Worth, Texas later, as business expanded to the north, a second distribution center was established in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The El Paso plant was expanded when the company began marketing its meters in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. With the growth of the West Coast business, the Darby Company opened a third distribution center in Las Vegas and just two years ago opened a second production plant in San Bernardino, California. Manufacturing costs differe between the company\'s production plants. The cost of each meter produced at the El Paso plant is $10.50. The San Bernardino plant utilizes newr and more efficient; as a result, manufacturing costs are $.50 per meter less than at the El Paso plant. The company\'s rapid growth meant that not much attention was paid to the efficiency of the distribution system. Darby\'s management decided it is now time to address this issue. The cost of shipping a meter from each of the two plants to each of the three distribtion centers is shown in Table 1 below. The quarterly production capacity is 30,000 meters at the older ElPaso plant and 20,000 meters at the San Bernardino plant. Note that no shipments are allowed from the San Bernardino plant to the Ft. Worth distribution center. The company serves nine customer zones from the three distribution centers. The forecast of the number of meters needed in each customer zone for the next quarter is shown in Table 2. The cost per unit of shipping from each distribution center to each customer zone is given in Table 3. note that some of the distribution centers cannot serve certain customer zones. In the current distribution system, demand at the Dallas, San Antonio, Wichitia, and Kansas City customer zones is satisfied by shipments from the Ft. Worth distribution center. In a similar manner, the Denver, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix customer zones are served by the Santa Fe distribution, and the Los Angel es and San Diego customer zones are served by the Las Vegas distibution center. To determine how many units to ship from each plant, the quarterly customer demand forecasts are aggregated at the distribution centers. and a transportation model is used to minimize the cost of shipping from the production plants to the distribution centers. Table 1 Shipping cost per unit from production plants to distribution centers ($) Distribution Center Plant Ft Worth Sante Fe Las Vegas El Paso 3.20 2.20 4.20 San Bernardino --- 3.90 1.20 Table 2 Quarterly Demand Forecast Customer Zone Demand (meters) Dallas 6300 San Antonio 4880 Wichitia 2130 Kansas City 1210 Denver 6120 Salt Lake City 4830 Phoenix 2750 Los Angeles 8580 San Diego 4460 Table 3 Shipping cost from the distribution centers to the customer zones ($) Customer Zone San Kansas Salt Lake Dallas Antonio Wichita City Denver City Phoenix LA SD Ft Wor 0.3 2.1 3.1 4.4 6.0 -- -- -- -- Sante Fe 5.2 5.4 4.5 6.0 2.7 4.7 3.4 3.3 2.7 Las Vegas - - - - 5.4 3.3 2.4 2.1 2.5 Question for overall problem 1. If the company does not change its current distribution strategy, what will its manufacturing and distribution costs be for the following quarter? 2. Suppose that the company is willing to consider dropping the distribution center limitations; that is, customer could be served by any of the distributon centers for which costs are available. Can costs be reduced? By how much? 3. The company wants to explore the possibility of satisfying some fo the customer demand directly from the production plants. In particular, the shipping cost is $.30 per unit from San bernardion to Los Angeles and $.70 from San Bernardion to San Diego. Teh cost for direct shipments from El Paso to San Antonio is $3.50 per unit. Can distribution costs be frther reduced by considering these direct plant customer shipments? 4. Over the next five years. Darby is anticipating moderate growth (5000 meters) to the North and West. Would you recommend that they consdier plant expansion at this time? Maybe someone with alot of time on their hands or knows what to do with this problem.

A fight that broke out at the SmackDown! tapings...? Source: PWInsider.com A fight broke out backstage last night in Wichita, Kansas after SmackDown! was taped. After the show was over, JBL gathered a number of WWE superstars together, including John Morrison, The Miz, MVP, CM Punk, and Matt Hardy. JBL berated Miz and Morrison for their color commentary work on ECW. JBL was furious that the two made Punk look bad with their commentary. They were heels and were supposed to criticize Punk in a heel way, but JBL felt they went too far with it. JBL then yelled at them for their ring work during their match with MVP & Matt Hardy. JBL told Miz & Morrizon to apologize to Punk, MVP & Hardy for making all 3 of them look bad. The Miz apologized, but Morrison told JBL “F*ck you, it's none of your business”. He then said he would apologize to Punk, Hardy & MVP, but not because JBL told him to. The confrontation went back and forth until Morrison shoved JBL. Several agents broke up the dispute before it got further than a shove.
Obama and religion... What do think of this ? In both of his autobiographies, Obama characterizes himself as a Christian—although he describes his upbringing as mostly secular. The senior Obama married a fellow student, eighteen year old Shirley Ann (Anna) Dunham of Wichita, Kansas. A self-professed atheist, Dunham was an anthropology student. Obama Jr. was born on August 4th, 1961, in Honolulu. In “The Audacity of Hope,” Mr. Obama says, "I was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother as secular, but says she had copies of the Bible, the Koran and the Bhagavad Gita in their home. Mr. Obama says his father was "raised a Muslim, but by the time he met my mother he was a confirmed atheist...." Mr. Obama also describes his father as largely absent from his life. He says his Indonesian stepfather was "skeptical" about religion and "saw religion as not particularly useful in the practical business of making one's way in the world ...." .........(continued below)............ In his book, "Dreams from My Father," Obama wrote of his mother (who died of ovarian cancer in 1995), “She was a lonely witness for secular humanism, a soldier for the New Deal and the Peace Corps.” In his book, "The Audacity of Hope," (pp 202-203), Obama wrote that she was “always too rational and too stubborn to accept anything she couldn’t see, feel, touch or count." She was the quintessential secular humanist, he told Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter and Daren Briscoe. Your thoughts?
HOW ABOUT THESE OLD ONES ? A guy walks into the local welfare office, A guy walks into the local welfare office, marches straight up to the counter and says, "Hi. You know, I just hate drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job." The social worker behind the counter says, "Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful nymphomaniac daughter. You'll have to drive around in his Mercedes, but he'll supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You'll be expected to escort her on her overseas holiday trips. You will have to satisfy her sexual urges. You'll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the garage. The starting salary is $200,000 a year." The guy, wide-eyed, says, "You're puttin' me on!" The social worker says, "Yeah, well, you started it." Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out. When the Director of Nursing became aware of Edna's heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged; since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is that Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in his bathroom with the belt of his robe right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead." Edna replied; "He didn't hang himself; I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?" More Evidence That This World Is Full Of Complete Idiots 1. Police in Wichita, Kansas, arrested a 22-year-old man at an airport hotel after he tried to pass two (counterfeit) $16 bills. 2. A man in Johannesburg, South Africa, shot his 49-year-old friend in the face, seriously wounding him, while the two practiced shooting beer cans off each other's head. 3. A company trying to continue its five-year perfect safety record showed its workers a film aimed at encouraging the use of safety goggles on the job. According to Industrial Machinery News, the film's depiction of gory industrial accidents was so graphic that twenty-five workers suffered minor injuries in their rush to leave the screening room. Thirteen others fainted, and one man required seven stitches after he cut his head falling off a chair while watching the film. 4. The Chico, California, City Council enacted a ban on nuclear weapons, setting a $500 fine for anyone detonating one within city limits. 5. A bus carrying five passengers was hit by a car in St. Louis, but by the time police arrived on the scene, fourteen pedestrians had boarded the bus and had begun to complain of whiplash injuries and back pain. 6. Swedish business consultant Ulf af Trolle labored 13 years on a book about Swedish economic solutions. He took the 250-page manuscript to be copied, only to have it reduced to 50,000 strips of paper in seconds when a worker confused the copier with the shredder. 7. A convict broke out of jail in Washington DC, then a few days later accompanied his girlfriend to her trial for robbery. At lunch, he went out for a sandwich. She needed to see him, and thus had him paged. Police officers recognized his name and arrested him as he returned to the courthouse in a car he had stolen over the lunch hour. 8. Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telline the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed. 9. When two service station attendants in Ionia, Michigan, refused to hand over the cash to an intoxicated robber, the man threatened to call the police. They still refused, so the robber called the police and was arrested. 10. A Los Angeles man who later said he was "tired of walking," stole a steamroller and led police on a 5 mph chase until an officer stepped aboard and brought the vehicle to a stop.
My husband went to a strip club while out of town and didn't bother to tell me. Found out from a cup. WTH? We had been planning to go together for some spice in our marriage, but HE ended up going without me while out of town on business. Some place called, Mustang Sally's in PA. He left the cup on the sink for me to see because he thought I would not be upset. I am not exactly mad at the fact that he went I am mad he didn't tell me at the time it happend. He was gone for 3 1/2 weeks on this job, and not once did he bother to let me know through all our extensive communication by phone and text. I feel betrayed because I was under the impression that us going to a strip club was something special for us and only us, now I am not so excited about going anymore. He jumped the gun and went without me. I also feel so deceived at his lack of communication about it, and for some reason my self-esteem is a little shattered and my trust for him just went out the window. This all coming at a time when just 2 months ago he told me he did not love me anymore and that he wanted a divorce. But, recently said he wanted to work things out, and stay together. He claims to have gone with some guys from the job site, and he was only there a couple of hours. I asked him if he wore his wedding ring, and he lied and said yes. I always know when he is lying, so I called him on it. Then he retracted and said well we can't wear jewlery on site. Which is true because he works on UPS batteries. He also told me it was a juice bar, which I know is totally nude, but he claims it was not, but when I looked up the strip club website...it surely is. What the hec is going on here? I am so confused not only with his actions on divorce and then wanting to stay together, but going to a club and not bothering to tell me. I had to find out from the cup sitting on the sink from the club. I am so hurt right now. I seriously do not want him to even touch me. I asked if he got a lap or private dance and said, No. That he only tipped $10.00 to a dancer on stage. This feeling of uncertainty and betrayel is really eating at me. He gone to Wichita now until Wednesday, and I have no desire to call him. Well, I should add that we agreed to go to a strip club together becuase I am bi, but I never acted on it since marriage with another woman, so he thought it would be a way for me to have satisfaction with my sexuality. He does want to see me with another women, but I am not exactly for it. I am also already in councling. I started going a couple of months ago, but he will not go with me right now. Yes...We have children. One together and I have one from a previous unmarried relationship. I have 2 boys 10 & 7.

How to find out what real estate properties an individual owns? What website will allow me to search by name, city/st to show all of the real estate properties owned by the individuals name used? The person and properties in question are located in Kansas, Wichita and surrounding areas. I thought I had done this in the past through the Sedgwick county tax appraisal site, but it appears you can only search by addresses instead of by name? Outside of MLS through a realtor where can I look online to verify this person owns the properties he says that he owns? I do not know the addresses, but I know his first and last name, business address, city, st etc. I am looking to sell and he is looking to buy, but I am cautious because I have been dragged into deep water by two failed closing this past 8 months. I am trying to do as much due diligence as possible. Also in out last conversation he stated he recently closed on a $1,000,000 deal with properties similar to mine with the required $200,000 down and is looking to do it again. How might I be able to verify he did in fact do this deal? I only have his name, office address and cities/St. he operates in. Very Kind Regards, JT

I hope this isn't a ruse to keep her out of sight because she is White, Because photo ops of Obama and his white grandma might not be what the Obama camp wants, at this point in time. And the above picture is very telling. Published 8/16/06 with an article about a trip to Kenya in 2004, in the Chicago Suntimes, there's a picture (at least for now) of "Obama with his grandmother (a very black) Madelyn Dunham." None of Obama's people have asked for it to be removed or addressed the issue, considering the photo was supplied by the Obama family. Below is the real grandmother Dunham with grandfather Stanley. Is Obama ashamed that he is half White or maybe he is just after the Black vote. Just who you are, Barack? Are your an American who will work as President to improve America? Or are African and your Goals as President is to Improve Africa? Will the real Barack (Barry) Hussein Obama (Soetoro) please stand up The autobiographical narrative tells the story of the future Senator's life up to his entry in Harvard Law School. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Harvard University-educated economist Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., of Kenya, and Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas. At the time of Obama's birth, both his parents were students at the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama's parents separated when he was two years old and divorced when he was four. Obama formed an image of his absent father from stories told by his mother and her parents. Ann Dunham Obama then married Big Oprah, an East-West Center student from Indonesia. The family moved to Jakarta. When Obama was ten, he returned to Hawaii under the care of his grandparents (and later his mother) for the better educational opportunities available in Hawaii. He was enrolled in the fifth grade at Punahou School, a private college-preparatory school where one of his teachers was the sister of Neal Boortz, the radio talk-show host. Obama was one of three Black students among the majority Asian-American population at that school. In an American school, Obama first became conscious of racism and what it means to be an African-American. At this point, his father came to visit him and his family; it was the last time that Obama would see him before his father's death in a car accident in 1982. Upon finishing high school, Obama enrolled at Occidental College, where he describes living a "party" lifestyle of drug and alcohol use. He transferred to Columbia College at Columbia University, where he majored in political science. Upon graduation, he worked for a year in business. He then moved to Chicago, where he took up community organizing in the Altgeld Gardens housing project on the city's South Side. Obama recounts the difficulty of the experience, as his program faced resistance from entrenched community leaders. It was during his time spent here that Obama joined Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ Before attending Harvard Law School, Obama decided to visit relatives in Kenya. He uses part of his experience there as the setting for the book's final, emotional scene. The book includes a good deal of reflection on race and race relations against white people in the United States. Obama Pastor: 9/11 Wake Up Call For Whites The following is from a pdf file of sermon from Barack Hussein Obama’s "spiritual mentor" as published in October 2003 issue of the Trinity United Church of Christ’s publication, "The Trumpet." (Published by the Reverend’s daughter.) A Message From our PASTOR, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., Senior Pastor In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the Western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just “disappeared” as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring Black concerns. Reverent Wright is the man that Mr. Obama claims got him interested in politics. He speaks of him as his political father and even his surrogate father. January 21, 2007 When he took over Trinity United Church of Christ in 1972, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. was a maverick pastor with a wardrobe of dashikis and a militant message… Obama, was not a churchgoer at the time, but he found himself returning to the sanctuary of Trinity United. In Wright he had found both a spiritual mentor and a role model… In his 1993 memoir "Dreams from My Father," Obama recounts in vivid detail his first meeting with Wright in 1985. The pastor warned the community activist that getting involved with Trinity might turn off other black clergy because of the church’s radical reputation. When Obama sought his own church community, he felt increasingly at home at Trinity… Later he would base his 2004 keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on a Wright sermon called "Audacity to Hope," – also the inspiration for Obama’s second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope." Wright cautioned Obama not to let politics change him. if you want to see the photo's included in this please send me an e-mail with your yahoo or what ever e-mail address you would like it send to I don't mind sharing it with you .Photo's will not load on this site sorry. http://www.classicalvalues.com/archives/2007/03/post_285.html this link will show you the photo's of the Black Madelyn Dunham ''the fake one'' and the real Madelyn Dunham the one that raised Obama. scrool to the bottom of the page . scroll* sorry about the type o .... what a fight? A fight broke out backstage last night in Wichita, Kansas after SmackDown! Several agents broke up the dispute before it got further than a shove. http://www.wrestlezone.com/article.php http://youtube.com/watch?v=rDY-uY3_QXc cm punk match

What is your opnioin on this sob story illegal calims he did not think it was wrong to transport illegals? WICHITA, Kansas (AP) A Mexican citizen who said he only wanted to help his family after he was caught transporting illegal immigrants was sentenced Monday to time served since his November arrest and ordered deported. Joni Rivera-Rodriguez has been in custody since he was caught in Kansas driving a passenger van carrying 16 illegal immigrants who were citizens of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. He pleaded guilty in February to bringing in and harboring illegal immigrants. Rivera-Rodriguez tearfully asked for forgiveness, telling U.S. District Judge Monti Belot in Spanish that he had unknowingly done wrong and never thought at the time that what he was doing was so bad. Seven passengers who also were indicted already have pleaded guilty to illegally re-entering the U.S. after deportation. All were sentenced to time served and ordered deported. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Anderson said Monday that the Kansas case is tied to Operation Night Moves, a federal immigrant smuggling investigation of Houston transportation businesses. Anderson declined to elaborate.

So, McMahon went with a double main event of Hogan-Sid and Flair-Savage. • Prior to WMX, McMahon had Lex Luger come out with the world belt for a television taping, scheduled to air after the pay-per-view. In what should have been a minor point, the top rope broke at one point during the match. The Rockers defended the titles for a week after that, but then Neidhart was re-hired by the WWF, and Vince McMahon decided that the title change never actually happened, in one of the goofier decisions of the 90s, and one of many to affect the careers of Shawn and Bret. As an explanation, a story was sent to Pro Wrestling Illustrated about the rope break causing an "unfair working environment" for both teams, and hence the title reign was annulled. This was simply to cover up for the fact that they reported the title change as fact a week prior and needed a reason to no longer report it as such. The title change was edited out of the Main Event broadcast, and thus went down in history that the Rockers never had the belt. • From 1986-1989 Ric Flair averaged 34 minutes per-match. Did You Know These Facts? More than 100 billion crayons have been produced so far. The first crayons consisted of a mixture of charcoal and oil. In the early 1900s, cousins Edwin Binny and Harold Smith developed a nontoxic wax crayon. Binny's wife, Alice, attached the French word for chalk, Carie, with "ola," from oily, to form the Crayola name. Their first box of Crayola crayons were sold for a nickel in 1903.The first Crayola crayons came in a box of eight co lours: black, blue, brown, green, orange, purple, red and yellow. By 1957, 40 new co lours were introduced. Today there are more than 120 crayon co lours, including Atomic Tangerine, Blizzard Blue, Mango Tango, Outrageous Orange, Laser Lemon, Scream in' Green and Shocking Pink. Over 5 billion crayons are produced each year. It is widely proclaimed that April Fool's day originated in France in 1562, or thereabouts, when Pope Gregory replaced the Julian calender with the Gregorian calender in the Julian calender month of April. The day of introduction of the Gregorian calender was made the first day of January. Some people hadn't heard about the change in the date, so they continued to celebrate the New Year's Day, but it being 1st April. So, others called them "April fools." The fact is that Pope Gregory XIII ordered Thursday 4 October 1582 to be the last day of the Julian calendar. The next day was Friday 15 October. April Fool's Day is an April Fool's tale. The April Fool's Day tradition in France includes poisson Avril ("April's fish"), attempting to attach a paper fish to the victim's back without being noticed. During a trip to Asia in the early 1800s, a German merchant - it is said - noticed that the nomadic Tartars softened their meat by keeping it under their saddles. The motion of the horse pounded the meat to bits. The Tartars would then scrape it together and season it for eating. The idea of pounded beef found its way back to the merchant's home town of Hamburg where cooks broiled the meat and referred to it as it as Hamburg meat.German immigrants introduced the recipe to the US. The term "hamburger" is believed to have appeared in 1834 on the menu from Delmonico restaurant in New York but there is no surviving recipe for the meal. The first mention in print of "Hamburg steak" was made in 1884 in the Boston Evening Journal. The hon our of producing the first proper hamburger goes to Charlie Na green of Seymour, WI. In 1885 Na green introduced the American hamburger at the Outcome County Fair in Seymour. (Seymour is recognized as the hamburger capital of the world.)However, there is another claim to that throne. There is an account of Frank and Charles Munches who, also in 1885, went to the Hamburg, New York county fair to prepare their famous pork sausage sandwiches. But since the local meat market was out of pork sausage, they used ground beef instead. Alas, another hamburger. The first account of serving ground meat patties on buns - taking on the look of the hamburger as we know it today - took place in 1904 at the St. Louis World Fair. But it was many years later, in 1921, that an enterprising cook from Wichita, Kansas, Walt Anderson, introduced the concept of the hamburger restaurant. He convinced financier Billy Ingram to invest $700 to create The White Castle hamburger chain. It was an instant success. The rest of the history, we might say, belongs to McDonald's.And, no, a hamburger does not have any ham in it. Well, it's not supposed to. Hamburger meat usually is made of 70-80% beef, and fat and spices. A butcher from Frankfurt who owned a dachshund named the long frankfurter sausage a "dachshund sausage," the dachshund being a slim dog with a long body. ("Dachshund" is German for "badger dog." They were originally bred for hunting badgers.) German immigrants introduced the dachshund sausage (and Hamburg meat) to the United States. In 1871, German butcher Charles Felt man opened the first "hot dog" stand in Conney Island in 1871, selling 3,684 dachshund sausages, most wrapped in a milk bread roll, during his first year in business. In the meantime, frankfurters - and wieners - were sold as hot food by sausage sellers. In 1901, New York Times cartoonist T.A. Tagan noticed that one sausage seller used bread buns to handle the hot sausages after he burnt his fingers and decided to illustrate the incident. He wasn't sure of the spelling of dachshund and simply called it "hot dog."Recipes for placing meat between slices of bread date back to Roman times. However, that was for steak, not minced meat. Thus, the steak burger is older than the hamburger.Sausage is one of the oldest forms of processed food, having been mentioned in Homer's Odyssey in the 9th century BC.The tongue is a muscle with glands, sensory cells, and fatty tissue that helps to moisten food with saliva. You cannot taste food unless it is mixed with saliva. For instance, if salt is placed on a dry tongue, the taste buds will not be able to identify it. As soon as saliva is added, the s
