If you get the General Motors family pricing is it always the same dealer to dealer?

If you get the family discount from General Motors is it always the same from dealer to dealer or can they offer you more off then you are already getting to compete with each other? Please only answer this if you are positive, I don't mean to be rude but I don't want to go in misinformed=) Thanks...oh and if you have direct experience with this please feel free to share!

  1. We are a GM family and the discount is non-negotiable. It should be the same at every dealer. If you get one who tries to offer something lower then they are doing it under the table. The make so little on GM employee purchases that they wouldn't benefit offering you less to compete with another dealer.
  2. The GMS or GM employee purchase program is designed so that you get the same price from every dealer with no negotiation necessary. Your price is listed right on the invoice next to the letters GMS about halfway down on the far right hand column. If the dealer is honoring the GMS price (which is completely voluntary on their part) then they will have forms taht you need to sign that indicates the price (before rebate) that is listed on the invoice. A dealer is welcome to sell it for below GMS if they want, but you will find most aren't willing to do that as they usually don't make much on the GMS deal. It is in no way out of the ordinary for you to ask to see the invoice and the GMS price, and I would suggest you do just that. As a matter of fact I would suggest you come and see me and I will show you myself. cricket@twenters.com
  3. Family pricing is set by GM, not the dealer. If you compare 2 identical vehicles, the family price will be the same. GM gives the dealer the difference in price from what they lost when they sell the vehicle.
