Which airlines are best for overweight people to fly?
I wanted to suprise my girlfriend and purchase her a ticket to come visit. She is overweight and would need to travel with the armrest up and might need an extention (not sure on the extention). I know Southwest & Continental Airlines charge for 2 seats. Which Airlines is the best for a large size person?

- Buy her two tickets. Flying her to see you might make her day, but it will ruin the trip for the people who sit near her.
- u should try military airlines!!!! with the new innovations, you should try the cargo L-1011
- All airlines have a policy when it comes to charging overweight passengers for an extra seat. Not only they are thinking about the passengers next to such passenger, but it also can be safety issue in the event of a crash or emergency landing. You should call the airline and get their policy at least in writing so that there is no confusion at the airport.
- First class or business class.
- Maybe this will help you out: http://www.grandstyle.com/airlines.htm
- A real surprise would be business class. International: Asian airlines such as Singapore or Thai have the widest seats, as do middle eastern ones such as Emirates or Qatar. However it seems from your question you would like budget and domestic. Usually you could check online for the seat widths on the company's website. Otherwise, on many mainstream airlines you could purchase one ticket, then on the plane, she could ask for an extender and to be seated next to an empty seat.
- i suggest she fly in business class.
- My sister is overweight, and uses a seatbelt extension, and American does NOT charge her for 2 seats!
- those BIG-@ss Air buses
- suggest u hire private jet. then u can chosse yr own seat
- Ask the airline to give you a precise definition of exactly what an overweight person is .If they can't do that then threaten to sue them for discrimination and then do it.Because by definition alone "overweight "is an ambiguous term . If your girlfriend is 5'0" 250lbs she's overweight for her size But if you are 6'3" 250 and muscular you are not over weight for your size .Therefor to charge her and not charge you would be discrimination.
- If she physically requires two seats, then the airline will charge for two seats. They will not give up that extra revenue! A little-known fact though, is that Southwest will REFUND the second seat if the flight is not full. You'd have to check with the airlines for their specific policies, not too many are actually posted online (though they should be...).
